Perfect Weather for Geocaching

Just a quick post today. We have had some wonderful days out lately, geocaching. The gorgeous Autumn weather has been settled and mild. The trees are looking so pretty too, and Poppy Dog has been in her element!

I felt compelled to put a page together. Using mainly Woodnote from Sahin Designs. I put this page on Instagram, but realised that the writing is probably too small to read. So have put it here 🙂

Turning Leaves and The Plump Duck Café!

I love the Autumn kit ‘Turning Leaves’ from One Little Bird at The Lily pad. This is Poppy Dog messing about in the leaves in our back garden. I also really like that quote. I always try to  look for the good and the beautiful. Sometimes I think we are inclined to dwell on the negative. So go out there and focus on the positive!

So we were out geocaching at Petersfield Lake in Hampshire, UK. We had lunch in a café called the Plump Duck! It really was a welcome haven on a very chilly day. The hot chocolate was so warming and the toasted sandwiches delicious 🙂

So I made a couple of pages. The first one is using ‘Table for Two’ from Sahin Designs and focuses on the hot chocolate lol.

The second uses ‘Cosy Day’ also from Sahin Designs and is all about the little rubber ducks the café used for food order numbers. So cute!

Spooky Crows & A Bird In The Hand

the-crow

This is one of the regular visitors to our garden. I don’t actually find them at all spooky, but in this photo, he does look kind of sinister! Photo is by my son Matt of course 🙂

I love to watch the crows, they are so intelligent and have even figured out how to ‘fish’ for goldfish in the pond. They put bread in the shallow part of the water -step back and wait for the fish to come and take a nibble – then they pounce. It’s amazing how they’ve learned to do this and recently, I have watched them teaching this year’s offspring how to do it.

For the above layout, I used the brilliant new Halloween kit Fly By Night from Lynne Grieveson Designs. Template, used as a sketch, is from Sahin Designs.

When Matt was out taking photos last week, he met a park ranger who had tamed a few birds to come and feed from his hand. So , of course, he took a photo!

The kit I used for this layout is Kohi from Lynne Grieveson Designs. It’s one of my favourites of Lynne’s. I love the earthy, natural colours which compliment Matt’s photos so well.

I got a GSO for this layout (gallery stand out) of which I am very proud 🙂

Well that’s all for today. I am off out with Poppy Dog to find some crunchy Autumn leaves to walk through. The weather is still so beautiful and sunny around here. I love Autumn!

Addiction, & Poppy’s Issues

poppys-issues

This is the first picture I have ever taken of Poppy & Jester together. He is my mum’s dog and the ONLY dog that Poppy will tolerate any where near her. As a puppy, we made sure we introduced her to lots of dogs and people as we knew it was important to socialise her.

But her personality is just cautious and she was having none of it. It does mean that she’s a very easy dog to walk as she never runs off after other dogs – nor does she ever bother people. But I would love her to have more doggy friends. It seems she is missing out when I see the other dogs playing together in the park. Poppy refuses to even enter the park until it is dog free lol. Bless her and her ‘issues’

So I made the page above to celebrate the fact that she does have at least one canine friend! Kit is Table For Two from Sahin Designs.

The next issue is all my own! I think I may be addicted to Sahin Designs kits & templates. I love lots of designer’s products, but Sahin’s stuff is just so easy to use and beautifully put together. I like everything I have seen from her so far and even use her templates. Up until now, I hated using templates. But Sahin’s are so on my creative wavelength that I find it fairly straightforward. Anyway, addiction or not, I am loving every minute of it!

The above page features Poppy Dog in the garden helping with the big autumn clear up. Kit is Autumn Days from…wait for it…Sahin Designs 🙂

Wild & Free

deer

So this post is a bit of a shout out to my talented son, Matthew. He is passionate about wildlife and a very keen, self taught wildlife photographer. He studied Conservation & Wildlife Management at college and since then has honed his photography skills. He is now a volunteer wildlife photographer for The Wetlands & Wildfowl Trust and is building his photography business along side his job in a camera shop.

I love the fact that he is passionate about our wildlife and natural environment and often gets up at 5.00am to capture the sunrise and accompanying birds at our local nature reserve. I share his love of all things natural and the great outdoors and love to use his photos in my layouts.

I don’t see many layouts featuring wildlife. Most pages seem to focus on family and pets, which is GREAT and lots of my pages also have that focus. But I enjoy the fact that my wildlife pages are a little more unusual (and can also be more challenging to put together)!

The page at the top of this post is a fallow deer that Matt photographed this week. I found it hard to scrap due to the dark, unusual photo style, but hope I have done it justice . Kit is Woodnote & Joyful Noises from Sahin Designs. The page below features Matt in his natural habitat lol.  This is when he is at his happiest – at the nature reserve and with a camera round his neck! Kit is Woodnote from Sahin Designs. I’ve loved using this kit. It really works well on my wildlife layouts.

Snail Surprise!

fake-snail

This must be one of the most ingenious geocaches we have ever found! It was hidden in a fake snail. Not sure if it was a real shell or not, but it was so realistic. We overlooked it a couple of times and then Paul looked closer and realised what it might be!

The page is put together using Agenda from One Little Bird and elements from kits by Lynne Grieveson Designs. I made it for the template challenge over at The Lily pad and is by Paislee Press.

I’ve uploaded a few photos from our geocaching yesterday. The close ups of the snail are not that clear, but you get the idea. The other pic is of Sophie and Paul (and Poppy Dog)  searching, just before the snail discovery. It was stuck on the side of the trough and was also magnetic. It was also the most beautiful, sunny Autumn Day in West Sussex   🙂
