I have nearly finished my first month as a guest pollywog at The Lily Pad. I won my slot by completing the Month Of Challenges in January this year. The Lily Pad is a website for digital scrap bookers to meet up, share their work and shop. It is such a friendly site and I have learnt so much since I joined in 2011. Pollywogs are kind of moderator type people that work behind the scenes and run challenges, chat in the forums and generally ensure the smooth running of the site. They also create layouts to show case the product available in the store. They have so many cool, talented designers there and I have LOVED working with their creations.
So here are a few pages I’ve made as a polly so far;
This is Hubby, Paul & Poppy dog on the beach during our recent heatwave. Using Big Hugs Template – Fiddle Dee Dee Designs and Sugar Sands Beach – Etc by Danyale.
This is a throwback photo to when I was 3 years old! Using Summer Picnic – Sabrinas Creations.
I took this photo the other day. Of course my request for a photo was not taken seriously! Using Frame Template Snaps Of You – Sabrinas Creations.
Poppy dog and her beach hair 🙂 I am very proud to say that I was awarded a Gallery Standout for this! Using Seaworthy – Just Jaimee.
Another using the Big Hugs Templates – Fiddle Dee Dee and Optimistic – Pink Reptile Designs. My nephews & niece having a bit of a giggle 🙂
Thank you so much for dropping in to have a look 🙂
July sees me begin my 2 month stint as Guest Pollywog over at The Lily Pad. Which basically means I get to hang out behind the scenes and create pages using ALL of the fabulous designer stuff. I know, pinch me! So the following few weeks will see me posting pages here using many designers and kits. Can’t wait 🙂
Just one layout today. This marks the end of my Skomer trip documenting. (although I am hoping to squeeze in one more pocket style page summing up the whole trip).
Anyway, those puffins were just too adorable and to be able to get this close to them was truly amazing. This layout uses Ready Set Go from One Little Bird Designs. I love the orange – perfect puffin stuff!
Photo by my very talented son Matt Gould.
I have been inspired to tidy up my craft room and get back to doing some ‘real’ paper and glue type scrapping. I’ve been enjoying experimenting with inks to create backgrounds, with mixed results! I’ve had to adjust from the instant fix type scrapping that digital offers, and accept that paper scrapping is a much longer process. But I am really enjoying getting messy and arty again. This is one of my first pages. I am more or less happy with it but can, of course, see loads I could change. The photo is my step son and his girlfriend. I love how he is looking at her here. So much love between them, it just makes me smile 🙂
Anyway, back to digiland 🙂
My son, Matt did a free photo shoot for me & my mum at the studio where he works. It was so much fun and we didn’t take it at all seriously. This layout is using Between Us from the super talented One Little Bird. I love this photo as it sums up how we are when we get together.
I also put together this project life type page using Shutterbug from One Little Bird. Matt is a wild life photographer, so far more used to taking pictures of birds and animals outside. Taking that into account, I think he did a pretty good job ha!
And finally…I couldn’t mention my son’s photography without sharing one of his gorgeous wild life photos. Using All Things Considered from One Little Bird. If you are at all interested in seeing more of his photos, you can find him here mattgould22
Thank you for reading 🙂 x
Me & Paul went to Brighton Pier to watch the starlings murmur. For those not in the know, murmurating is what starlings do just before they settle down to roost for the night. In Brighton, they roost under the pier so the best place to view it is on the pier. They flock together in a huge mass in the sky and move in a shape changing cloud, seemingly moving as one, rather than lots of individual birds. It is mesmerising and moving to watch and we are so glad we stood in the cold for 40 mins to see it!
I haven’t put a page together yet, but I have done this one of the pier. Using Find Peace from Lynne Grieveson Designs. I love the colours in this kit, they really compliment the photo.
Now, on to Spring. It really is almost here in the UK and the daffodils in my garden are testament to that. They are the herald of Spring and seem to make everyone feel a bit more cheerful. Love the yellow and One Little Bird’s new kit Duly Noted was perfect for documenting the arrival of these beautiful flowers in my garden 🙂
Speaking of all things Spring… I have just noticed there is frogspawn in my pond! Which I will duly photograph and scrapbook, and hope that I am not the only one who gets inspired by frog’s eggs lol!
Happy New Year Everyone!
I am very excited to be joining in with The Month Of Challenges at The Lillypad. Every day through January, a new challenge is set. This is my third year doing this and I can’t wait to see what I will learn this year. In the past two years I have been taken well out of my comfort zone and learned so many new digi-scrapping skills. It really is worth checking out and you are assured a very warm welcome at The Lily pad.
This is today’s page. The challenge is called ‘Brought To You By The Letter…’ As you can see, I went with ‘B’ and the story of Poppy Dog’s morphing name. Using Turning Leaves from One Little Bird and Take A Twirl Brushes from Lynne Grieveson Designs.
So, back in 2013, I discovered this amazing designer called One Little Bird. I have used her stuff ever since and,as my style has become more minimalist, I am drawn to her products even more. I have also admired her awe inspiring creative team. Often thinking ‘I wish I could make pages like that’! I love the clean lines and tiny little embellishments and all the gorgeous white space.
So I scrapped away for the next few years, taking inspiration from all the talented ladies at The Lily pad. I learned all about photo editing and creating more realistic shadowing (still a work in progress)! and just enjoyed preserving precious memories for my family.
Then in November this year, I applied for a spot on the One Little Bird Creative Team. I waited for the rejection email that would surely come. BUT NO! I was chosen by Peppermint herself to be on her creative team… WHAT!!? #dreamjustcametrue! I am still pinching myself and am just so thrilled to be creating for such a talented designer. You can expect to see many pages made with One Little Bird goodness from now on.
An added bonus is that Peppermints designs work so well with Lynne Grieveson Designs. So I am extremely fortunate to be creating for 2 designers who’s styles gel together beautifully. Lynne makes the most amazing stamps and brushes which I often use with One Little Bird stuff to soften my pages.
So here is my first ever layout as a One Little Bird Creative Team member 🙂 Using the gorgeous Shimmer Kit with a beautiful brush from Lynn Grieveson’s Iced.
First up today is this page I put together using a photo Matt took of a wren (mattgouldphotography.com)
Using the beautiful kit, Iced from Lynne Grieveson Designs at The Lilly pad. The soft browns and creams are perfect for the photo. I think wrens must be one of my favourite British birds. They are so tiny and full of character. As I type, I can see one hopping about on the tree outside my window!
This next layout features my son’s girlfriend who is going through a bit of a rough time at University. Her housemates are being unkind to her and even want her out of the house. All because she doesn’t want to go out and party all the time she is ‘too quiet’! Can you believe that? Anyway, she is actually coping quite well and has the support of us all. So hopefully she will come through it all unscathed.
I’ve used a kit called Chestnut Lane from One Little Bird. It’s actually a Christmas themed kit, but just called out to me for this photo.
The layout is based on a sketch from Lets Get Sketchy. I discovered their site on Instagram. They provide a new sketch every Monday and I find I can usually adapt them to fit my style. The people on the site are mostly paper scrappers so it’s nice to add my digital take on it. Pop over and have a look if you fancy a go 🙂
I received a Gallery Standout for this layout. Such an honour and so exciting. Thank you Jana 🙂
